Every removal and trimming job we run around Columbia produces chips, brush, and log rounds — material that has to go somewhere once the job wraps up. Hauling it to a disposal site costs fuel and time on every load, so instead of trucking it out of the area, we look for property owners nearby who can put it to use. That's the whole idea behind this program: you mark a drop spot on the map, and when a crew is already working close enough that the trip makes sense, we bring a load your way at no cost.
Supply isn't something we control on a schedule — how much chip or log material we have in a given week depends entirely on what jobs are running and what those trees produce. Some weeks bring heavier mixed-hardwood chip loads with logs mixed in; other stretches are lighter. Once you submit a request we hold onto it and match your drop spot against upcoming jobs in your area, so timing can range from a few days to a few weeks. This works well for gardeners mulching beds, homesteaders stocking a wood pile or compost setup, and anyone working a landscaping project who needs fill material or ground cover without paying delivery prices for it.

Free Wood Chip & Log Drop FAQs
- No. While most of our jobs are in Columbia, we also drop wood chips and logs in Fulton, Ashland, Auxvasse, Mexico, Holts Summit, and throughout Boone and Callaway counties. We deliver whenever a crew is already working near you, so where we drop next depends on where our current jobs are.
- Nothing. This is surplus material from tree jobs we're already doing around Central Missouri — chips and logs we'd otherwise haul off-site. There's no cost and no catch.
- There's no set schedule. We deliver opportunistically when a crew is already working in your area, which can be anywhere from a few days to a few weeks out. If timing matters for your project, call (573) 442-1838 and we'll give you a straight answer on what to expect.
- Wood chips are the shredded material from our chipper — good for mulch, ground cover, or erosion control. Logs are larger pieces cut from the trunk and limbs, useful for firewood or landscaping. Tell us what you can take on the request form and we'll match what we drop to it.
- Our trucks are heavy, and reaching some drop spots means crossing lawn or driveway — that can leave ruts or minor damage, especially on soft ground. Mark a spot on hard pavement if you're worried about your lawn, and note any obstacles or soft areas in the dump instructions.
- No. Mark the exact spot on the map when you request a drop, and our driver will dump there whether or not you're home. Add gate codes or access notes in the dump instructions field.
